Dr Dayo Okunlola joins The Southover Partnership as headteacher

The Southover partnership announces the appointment of Dr Dayo Okunlola as headteacher.  Dayo has an extensive educational background, spanning 37 years, in the UK and overseas. During his career Dayo has worked as a university lecturer, a head of department; head of year and as deputy head teacher of a large secondary school in north London. He is passionate about the  inclusion of pupils and students with special educational needs and disabilities.

In his spare time Dayo is a published writer (fiction and scientific) and has written and directed stage plays performed in the UK and the Caribbean.  Dayo also been a newspaper editor, written for CBBC, and is involved with Mantra Lingua in the production of Bilingual books for young learners.

The Southover Partnership is one of the UK’s leading independent special needs schools with four sites across North and North West London.  The Southover Partnership provides full time primary and secondary education to young people with challenging behaviour, autism and learning difficulties. The Southover Partnership School’s philosophy is based on a commitment to attachment theory and relentless care for its pupils.

Dayo takes over from Helen Jackson who retired from her role as headteacher at The Southover Partnership schools in July this year. Helen continues to work for Southover in a new role as Local Authority liaison.
